Travelled through to Bruntsfield in Edinburgh for Sunday brunch at Montpeliers Restaurant.
Made a booking via their website and the process was simple and could not have been simpler. We arrived at the allotted time and the staff reminded us that there was a timescale with the booking and they required the table again at 13:30, which allowed us 2 hours for brunch. This had been made clear when making the booking and in the confirmation email, so was not an issue.
Our table was ready and the surroundings are spacious and the ambience is excellent. The service was timely and efficient, even although the restaurant was busy. Looks as though booking in advance for the weekend is essential to avoid a long wait, or worse, disappointment. There were the Sunday papers and some magazines available if you wanted to peruse, whilst awaiting your food, but Tricia and I prefer people watching and soaked up the atmosphere.
The food arrived without any delay and again service was efficient and attentive. Tricia had ordered Eggs Benedict, whilst with my eating still not completely normal with my ongoing illness, I had ordered ‘the Wee Monty’, which was a children’s version of ‘the Full Monty’, that being a full breakfast with all the trimmings. The order for a children’s portion for me was accepted with no question, which again was a plus point of the service provided. Both meals were well cooked and we both agreed that the food was excellent. We had originally ordered tea and coffee on arrival, but had changed that asking that they serve both with our meals and this request did not cause them a ripple of concern and the drinks arrived with the meals, another plus point for the service.
Although there was a time limit, we never felt rushed and enjoyed our brunch to the full, at a leisurely pace.
this is not our first visit to this restaurant and will certainly not be our last. We can both recommend it and would give it 5 stars in any rating.
