“War for the Planet of the Apes” – Movie Review

Date: Thursday, 3rd August, 2017

Venue: Cineworld, Silverburn – As always an excellent venue with friendly and helpful staff, quickly becoming my favourite cinema.

Movie: Enjoyed the movie. It delivered exactly what I expected and if there is one little criticism of all the sequels in this series, it is that they have never really been able to replicate the surprise at the end of the original.

It is kind of hard to be critical of any of the actors in the film, given that most of them are toiling dressed and disguised as apes. I am however beginning to feel as though Woody Harrelson continually plays the same character. The mad general / cop / criminal, with psychotic tendencies, deluded from real life. I do feel a little tired of it and do feel that he needs to try and vary the type of character he portrays.

The story was good if a little predictable, however I got what I expected from the movie and was entertained, although not the type of film that would stand a second viewing. Worth the watching for me!
