Bowls Mats and Jack

I took up bowls when I was in my very early teens and was mentored by my Uncle Donald, who was a great bowler. I am currently a member of Mearns B.C. and Glasgow Indoor B.C., having previously been a member of Bellahouston ; Mount Florida  and Paisley Indoor Bowling Clubs.
I have enjoyed a reasonable level of success through the years, although my enthusiasm has waned a little in recent years.

Specialized Allez Elite

After the usual cycling as a child, I came back to the sport via a work colleague and friend, Pat Leonard around 20 years ago and have cycled since. Fortunately, my son David also has the bug, although he has moved more towards mountain biking, whilst I am a “roadie”.

In recent years I have cycled quite intensively and currently average around 3 – 4 sessions a week, averaging approximately 100 miles a week.

Pictured is my current road bike, nicknamed the “Dream Machine”, a Specialized Allez Elite.

Turnberry over to Ailsa Craig

I am not currently a member of a golf club. I first golfed in Lochwinnoch when I was 5 and although I did play in little bursts at various times, didn’t really take it up again until around 10 years ago, when my late friend Allan Reid reintroduced me to it and I joined Ralston G.C.

I now golf a couple of times a month now, on a variety of courses, mainly at Broadlees, Troon and Turnberry.

Ben Arthur

I started hillwalking originally with the Scouts and at school in the late 60’s and early 70’s, but as with most interests, had drifted away from it. I decided a few years ago to re-visit the climbs I had completed back then and actually look around me this time!

I climb as often as time and weather allows and have re-kindled a love of the outdoors and the exercise. Climbing also dovetails nicely with photography in general and presents many opportunities for good images.

My picture on the left is of Ben Arthur (The Cobbler) Nr. Arrochar .

More Hillwalking

I dabbled with photography in my early twenties, but in those days costs were restrictive and post-production work was almost impossible. With the advent of digital photography and the software, allowing you to adjust any picture yourself at home, I have become enthusiastic again and have coupled this passion with my other hobbies, in particular hill climbing, to capture what I hope are good representations of the landscapes around Scotland.

There are some examples of what I hope are good photos throughout this site and in my portfolios.
